About the Coaches:
Varsity Head Coach
Bob Taylor- Coach Taylor has been at Chapin High School for 22 years. He started his soccer career in 1991 when he worked under legendary Coach Thad Miller until he took over the team in 1994. Coach Taylor led the Eagles to the State Finals in 1997 and 1999 he then brought in Dick Hiller and worked under Coach Hiller during the 2000 Season. Coach Taylor returned to the Soccer Sideline in 2008 to work with the JV again. In 2011 Coach Taylor took over the Varsity Girls and led them to 3 Region Championships and a State Title in 2016 and an appearance in the finals in 2017. Coach Taylor has his Advanced National license and currently coaching at South Carolina United Fc. Coach Taylor has also won 4 State Championships in Wrestling and has been named State Coach of the year in 1993 (Wrestling), and 2016 (Girls Soccer).
Assistant Coaches
Ken Corning - Varsity Coach 2018,
Coach Corning has been on the Boys Staff since the 2015 Season. Prior to that
he worked with the girls Varsity from 2012 to 2014. Coach Corning took over the boys during the
2018 season and was undefeated as Varsity Coach and led the Eagles to the 2018
AAAA State Championship. Coach Corning
was the Assistant Coach for the South Carolina United FC 99 Elite Girls. Under his guidance this team won the Disney
College Showcase Tournament in 2015 and the Region Premier league in 2016 and
was a Finalist at the Southeastern Region 3 Championships. Her team was also
part of National League and ECNL.
Kevin Graves - Coach Graves joins
the staff this year and brings much experience to the staff. Kevin has coached at the High School level
and is currently coaching at SCUFC. He
was named SCUFC Coach of the Year in 2017.
Coach Graves is the former coach of Cardinal Newman High School where he
set single season records with wins in 1997,98,and 99. He has also coached at Heathwood Hall and is
responsible for the first State SCISA Championship appearance for both
schools. He won the SCISA State
Championship in 1999 and 2000.
